PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Welcome back to a new year of bonsai! This year looks to be full of events, seminars, and workshops all throughout the year.

January starts us out with a fantastic three part series of demonstrations by Michael Roberts and his “Process” of developing bonsai. We need to give a big Thank You to Ed and Linda Clark of Round Valley Nursery who donated the demonstration trees for Michael’s demonstrations. This is a total of 3 very nice trees which will be raffled off after each event in the process. Thank you Ed and Linda.

We have some great bonsai artists coming to California through the California Bonsai Society’s Visiting Artist Program. February will feature Malia Chiem out of the New England area. May is a tough month to get demonstrators with all the events happening in Japan and Europe. July will feature Mike Lane from Florida and November brings Hugo Zamora Luna from Mexico City.

Guest artist Yannick Kiggen will be back in June and maybe another guest artist from Europe for the month of October. We will have workshops with all the guest artists so stay tuned for the flyers.

Bonsai-a-Thon Reservation

Dear Recognized Bonsai Club,

If you are a member of a recognized bonsai club, you may apply for a single-day complimentary ticket to attend the Bonsai-a-Thon and grounds at The Huntington. This show runs from Saturday, February 25th, through Sunday, February 26th, 2023. The Huntington has created a ticket reservation system in appreciation of your support of our fundraiser.

You must be a member of a recognized bonsai club to receive this benefit. We may ask your club to verify that you are an active member. Each submission is good for one complimentary ticket.
