Summer is bringing hot temperatures across the nation, 90+degree temps from Northern California north to Portland and Seattle. \u00a0 90+ and 100+ degree temperatures across Midwest North to New York and then down the east coast.\u00a0The change in weather patterns is a concern for all bonsai enthusiasts across the nation, lets all get ready. The LA basin is under water restrictions for most cities, plan accordingly. Extra shade cloth, water barrels to store excess water, more mulch and top dressing to keep your trees cool, good luck everyone.<\/p>\n

Orange Empire Bonsai Society is having their annual show August 6th<\/sup>\/7th<\/sup> 10:30 to 4:00 at the Sherman Library and\u00a0 Gardens,\u00a0Located at 2647 E Coast Hwy, Corona Del Mar.<\/p>\n

The Naka Memorial Exhibition is having their show August 20-21 at the George J Doizaki Gallery, JACCC 244 S. San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. This is in conjunction with the Nisei Week Japanese Festival running from August 13-21 exhibits, music, entertainment, food, and fun.<\/p>\n

One of Dai Ichi\u2019s long time members and past board member, Penny Jensen has passed away. Penny was my first bonsai teacher, teaching bonsai for the City of Torrance adult education division. Penny was a teach to many of Dai Ichi\u2019s early students, she also took lessons from Mas Ishii at Chikugo-En Bonsai Nursery.<\/p>\n
