PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n

This month we are seeing excessive heat and wild fires all over the LA basin, be safe and try to keep those trees watered and in some shade. If you’re interested in a fun discussion about overhead watering, check out the Post from Julian Tsai on overhead watering your trees http:\/\/justbonsai.com<\/a>.\u00a0It’s very informative and goes into some detail. If you’re bored and need to repot something, tropicals, bougainvillea, jade trees are good candidates during this time. Just make sure your doing this work in the shade.<\/p>\n

GVJCI again asked the club to help with the Tanoshi Kids Fun camp where we had 38 kids and 12 counsellors working on small trees. The club provided a small procumbens nana potted in a nice glazed container, some stones, and ground cover, and sticks to put together little trees. Thank you goes out to all the members who came to teach; Jason Saito, Bob Pressler, Shinya Miyakoshi, Kelly Lui, Barry Miller, Brian Nicholson, Dan & Wanda Danesi, Albert Rivera, and Michael Roberts.\u00a0Special thank you goes out to Kimura Bonsai for donating the flats of ground cover, and Green Product Sales for the great material.<\/p>\n

Our scheduled guest demonstrator could not make the journey from Spain so we have decided to have a club workshop this month.\u00a0Bring a tree to work on and everyone will have a say on what to cut and what to keep.<\/p>\n

The weekend of our meeting the John Naka Memorial Bonsai Show will be at the Nisei Week festival.\u00a0Come on down and see some great trees, enjoy the beer garden, and eat some great food.<\/p>\n
