PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year is moving so fast, I can\u2019t believe there are only 3 months left of meetings. This month we have a little change of demonstrators, Robert Hoogeveen will be here working some of his bonsai magic.\u00a0Robert is the president of the Orange County Bonsai Society, a longtime member of many of the clubs in his area, and also a past student of John Naka.\u00a0He was also invited to participate in the Joshua Roth New Artist contest at the last GSBF\/Bonsai Rendevoux. Come out and support Robert this month, hopefully I can get him some material worthy of his time.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

September is also your last chance to enter the Larry Ragle Foundation Scholarship.\u00a0Two bonsai students from the Southern California area can enter to win a $250 scholarship.<\/p>\n

The only qualifications are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Belong to an area club<\/li>\n
  • Have 10 years of less of bonsai experience<\/li>\n
  • Reside in the southern California area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The coming months will be very busy for bonsai and for our club, as we will be hosting some international bonsai teachers.\u00a0The upcoming Bonsai Expo in Oakland will be a showcase for many great bonsai trees and a way to meet many artists from around the country.<\/p>\n
