PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n

This month brings us the end of spring and most of the LA basin will be hot with temperatures reaching into the 100\u2019s already.\u00a0Shade cloth is a must and watering multiple times a day is a norm, those little shohin and mame trees need constant care and watering.\u00a0You can try and help your shohin trees by placing the tree in another pot with soil or sand to keep the roots cooler.\u00a0In some varieties like princess persimmon and chojubai quince you can propagate these by letting the roots grow into these secondary pots and when its time to cut back the upper tree\/pot letting those roots in the lower pot grow on their own-root cuttings.<\/p>\n

I would like to take this time to thank all the members of the board who make things happen.<\/p>\n

Jason Saito \u2013 He has many titles and responsibilities but he makes our club shine, from the old newsletter, current postings, facebook presence, and our website. \u00a0 He handles everything our club uses that people will see.<\/p>\n

Kevin Sweeney – DIBK Raffle Chair –\u00a0We always have a great selection of pot, plants, tools, magazines, and even girl scout cookies on our raffle table.<\/p>\n

Dan Sawada – DIBK\u00a0Publicity Chair –\u00a0Dan’s new to the job but has done a great job for us.<\/p>\n

Barry Miller – DIBK\u00a0photographer and Hospitality Chair – Barry always makes\u00a0sure we have food and drink to go around.<\/p>\n

We will be looking for some new folks to help with the club, we have open positions and will be having spots opening up soon.\u00a0 If you are interested in helping with the club please let us know.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This month we welcome back\u00a0bonsai professional\u00a0Mike Lane.\u00a0Mike is from Florida and has an extensive knowledge of tropicals and all things Shohin.
\n<\/p>\n
