We here in the LA basin have it so much easier then the folks in other parts of the country. Prepping for the cooler fall and winter does not mean housing your trees in a green house or the garage. We tend to leave our trees in place and water less and worry about that 2 week heat wave. Deciduous trees are turning colors from green to brown, in some locations you get a nice change to the normal yellow, orange, and reds. The junipers and conifers are continuing to grow, so cut them back and get them ready for the cool nights. Its almost time for fall pine work, so just wait and let those candles and bugs grow, some of the needles will turn brown just pull them off, patience is key with pines. Cooler temperatures and less light also bring on fungal problems and the bugs don’t take the winter off. So keep sprayings, systemics, granule’s, and any other plans you may have on schedule.

Our guest demonstrator this month is Hiroyoshi Yamaji from the Takamatsu area of Japan. You can get a chance to experience bonsai with Yamaji-san before his Rendezvous 25 workshops. We have a club workshop Friday morning and a demonstration Friday night starting at 7:00.
