April brings warmer days and a little less rain, the repotting season is getting shorter and brings us to show time! Yes that’s right, get those trees ready for the annual Dai Ichi Bonsai Kai show and sale as it’s only a few weeks away. If you need help with your trees, accent plants, stands or dai’s just give me a call. Participation emails have been sent out to all members, so please respond in a timely manner.
This month brings back Michael Roberts with the 2nd phase of his tree development process. He will discuss the changes that are happening and what is the next steps for the trees. The 2nd tree will be raffled off to a lucky club member.
Dai Ichi Bonsai will again be hosting the bonsai display at the Torrance Sister City Festival. The Bunka Sai Festival will run April 15 & 16 at the Torrance Ken Miller Recreation Center. Come down and support the club, we will have trees displayed and will be doing demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday. Japanese food, shave ice, demonstrations, vendors, a bake sale, also there will be demonstrations all during the day. Japanese dance, judo, karate, and koto and flute playing will be scheduled during the weekend on 2 different stages.
