| PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
This year is moving so fast, I can’t believe there are only 3 months left of meetings. This month we have a little change of demonstrators, Robert Hoogeveen will be here working some of his bonsai magic. Robert is the president of the Orange County Bonsai Society, a longtime member of many of the clubs in his area, and also a past student of John Naka. He was also invited to participate in the Joshua Roth New Artist contest at the last GSBF/Bonsai Rendevoux. Come out and support Robert this month, hopefully I can get him some material worthy of his time.
September is also your last chance to enter the Larry Ragle Foundation Scholarship. Two bonsai students from the Southern California area can enter to win a $250 scholarship.
The only qualifications are:
- Belong to an area club
- Have 10 years of less of bonsai experience
- Reside in the southern California area

The coming months will be very busy for bonsai and for our club, as we will be hosting some international bonsai teachers. The upcoming Bonsai Expo in Oakland will be a showcase for many great bonsai trees and a way to meet many artists from around the country.
