PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Just when you thought it was getting cooler and the temperatures were starting to drop, another heat wave shows up. The nighttime temps are falling so we are getting some pretty big temperature swings during the day, for me I water in the morning and try not to water too late in the day. We are getting morning fog/clouds and the afternoon wind/marine layer.

The first annual Larry Ragle Foundation Scholarships were announced last month. The winners were pulled via lottery by Nina Ragle; the San Diego Club – Claire Cylkowski & Morgan Fippinger, Justo Avila – Santa Anita Bonsai & Sandra Cea – Baikoen KenKyuKai. Congratulations to all the winners!
We have a couple of great bonsai artists this month, come out and support the club and visit with Bjorn Bjorholm and Yannick Kiggeen. This is a great opportunity to catch two of the most important artists in modern Bonsai. Bjorn Bjorholm and Yanick Kiggen. Returning to DIBK, Bjorn and Yannick will perform their artistry on an amazing piece of material which, once transformed, will be auctioned at the end of the meeting. We’re expecting a big crowd so come early for best parking. We’ll be meeting in the big auditorium. See you there!
The Pacific Bonsai Expo will be a great show and experience, drive or fly up to the Oakland area and have a bonsai experience. Fantastic vendors, world class trees and demonstrations on many bonsai topics what a way to spend a bonsai weekend.
