PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
November brings many challenges to the bonsai artist, the weather is getting cooler, and yet we get days of hot temperatures. Your deciduous trees are changing color from green to yellow to brown, our form of fall color changes. Thinning and cutting back your junipers, prepping for repotting season, and fall pine work all in a 2 month span to end the year. Here in Los Angeles bonsai aren’t put away for the winter, we have cold spells and maybe a day or two of frost but not months of cold frames and garage storage. I hope this holiday season brings joy and prosperity to everyone.
Our guest demonstrator this month is Seth Nelson we saw Seth earlier this year but he is back via the visiting artist program/VAP. Seth is a certified bonsai professional trained in Japan at the Aichi-en Bonsai Nursery. We will have a workshop during the day and Seth will be doing a critique of trees for our November meeting. Bring a tree or a composition and have Seth define a future strategy for your tree.
